Curriculum
Our goal is for each child to be successful this year and in the future. The class will focus on four areas: 1) organization (planner/strategies), 2) projects, 3) presentations, and 4) participation. Success class will provide each student with the opportunity to get help on their current homework. Class time will be given to work with other students on their assignments, and test preparation through peer and teacher tutorials (Tues. & Wed.). Organization and learning strategies play a significant part in a student's success so the student planner is another major focus (see below). In an effort to prepare your student for higher education and their future career, students will also complete collaboration projects and give presentations. Each project will promote critical thinking by having the following components:
1) students choose their specific concept and design, 2) students form a plan to meet the project objective, 3) students execute their plan and revise (4 stages), and 4) students decide the best way to accomplish their objective by working together.

- Planner - Organizational skills are vitally important in attaining success.
- Projects- Working together to complete an objective and producing a quality final product is important in competing in a global economy. Students will be completing one project for each trimester.
- Presentations- Public speaking & communication are two components which most students will use in higher education and in the work place.
- Participation - Collaboration is a valuable skill that most employers value
- Trimester 1 Special Area of Focus: Cornell Notes
- Trimester 2 Special Area of Focus: Graphing
- Trimester 3 Special Area of Focus: Special Project
Our curriculum will also be designed to be highly interactive; students will be working with partners and in groups a majority of the time. Grading will be based upon a combination of participation and quality of the assignment completed in-class. Homework will only be assigned if your child did not use the class time provided to complete a task.
